DISTRICT INTERACT CONFERENCE 09 Day 6

By the time I finished eating and packing it was 5am! I didn’t even go to sleep, I went to bathe, changed and went downstairs. Saw some ppl already up so early to avoid the Rotarians and go to the mamak shop outside the campus. Sat and fell asleep on the bench outside the MPH hall till Sam came and woke me up. Then all of us went for breakfast.

I felt my eyes were as heavy as though there were weights hanging on it during the first session, or should I say the last session of the conference.

During the workshop after the talk, I finally had a chance to join my group. GROUP 7! I was like a stranger there.

During the panel discussion, some great points were brought up. A nice battlefield enfolded. *haha*

And finally, it was goodbye time.

Everyone took their bags down. Some of them still taking pics with each other. I couldn’t run around because still got so many changes to the CERTS~!!! Damn!! But nvm, still managed to take a few pics, got contacts from the Assunta girls (thanks to Aaron), gave out most of my name cards. My last pic was with Sara Cardoso from SMJK Chung Hua Kuala Pilah. Thank you Erika Yap for helping me take that pic.

The secretariat left last after everyone left and our bus was packed! More packed than when we came. Reached RKC in about an hour plus plus. Unloaded everything. Said final goodbye to everyone and left.

DISTRICT INTERACT CONFERENCE 09 Day 5

Today I woke up late again but not as late as the day before. Made it down for the first talk.

Couldn’t join in the treasure hunt once again. *Haiz* cos got more to certificates to change and new ones to print. I wanna join my group!! Saw everyone getting busy with the treasure hunt really hurt me. *HAHA*

Didn’t have my lunch that day, but went on to join the talk sessions. Sat behind with Amanda Aw during the sessions. I let her lie on me and the rest of the people all around began talking nonsense again. *haha* ridiculous!

The day passed quite fast. Nothing much to write about. At least that was, until talentime started!

I sat infront with Fern, Angeline, Joey, Ivy, Azwan and Vanessa. We saw some amazing performances, funny ones and also some very disturbing ones. *haha* There was this latin dance done by Esther Quah and another guy which I didn’t get his name. They were amazing! The passion, flame and power that was shown was just amazing! There was also BEATBOXING (literal meaning), guys in girl’s clothes, strip dancing (literally) *haha*

Then we celebrated three person’s birthday on the 12th of December, one of them is JIMMY SOH!!! *haha* he was damn damn surprised! And happy. Imagine having 700 over people celebrating your birthday for you! COOL!

After that, we all went around taking pictures and knowing each other. Exchanging name cards. I took pics with people from Penang, Kuala Pilah, Teluk Intan, USJ4, and Taman SEA. Joined in some social games in the streets of the dorm area.

The secretariat also ordered McDs. The bill amounting to RM320.55! It took them like one and a half hour to prepare and deliver them. Despite having waited so long. They still messed up the order. I didn’t get my set. = ( Waited with Aaron and his dad for the delivery then later was joined by Fern, Joey, Ivy, Bena and Vanessa. I also made friends with Phui Kei from Desa Perdana through sms. *haha* She was upstairs and I was downstairs. We all sat there chatting for a while then all of us went back to dorms. I still haven’t gotten mine yet. My order finally came at 4am!! They only gave a complimentary drink for all the trouble.

(continued next post/day)

DISTRICT INTERACT CONFERENCE 09 Day 4

Overslept this morning. *haha* When I woke up I didn’t look at the time and was still taking my own sweet time to get ready. Until Choong Sern came up then only I knew what happened. I checked my phone which I had put it in my blazer pocket last night because I need to wear it today, it had like 5 new messagees and 23 MISSED CALLS! *LOL* Sorry everyone. My fault here.

Reach the MPH already, quickly set up everything and started printing this and that for everyone. Just make it in time for the first talk, so we had more than enough time to prepare for the opening ceremony. The formalities went on well. (Lazy to cover this part. Nothing interesting much) Maha gave a great speech. POWER PACKED! *haha* (secretariats will know what I mean)

Then came the time for group photos. It was very messy as none of the secretariats went up to help arrange the people. *ish* I went up and started moving people as fast as possible as the Rotarians all were yelling us to move faster. The groups that came in ranged from a few people to (Klang interactors) damn hell lotsa people. It almost could not fit in the camera range.

After that during the tea break, I began selling my pin badges. Once it started, there was no stop. I’m serious. The people came in waves as more and more came to buy again and again. I was so happy that it was selling out so fast. I managed to cover my cost in just that half an hour of selling. =)

During lunch time, I continued selling the badges. Less people now but I’m still glad. *haha*

Today was another damn happy day, because, Joanne Shak came to see me! YAY! My sayang came to see me! I was so happy I didn’t even give a next thought, I just hugged her tightly. I felt so relieved of all my stress and tiredness for that moment. And of course, my school friends who were standing there were shocked. *haha* FYI, this is normal for me. I love to hug people! So who wants my hug can come find me! *hehe* She gave me my Christmas present there also. I was so happy.

Okay back to conference work. I was the introducer for the talk on ‘Facebook’ by Rotarian Joel Wong. Got people told me that they thought I was the speaker because I was wearing the blazer and looked so ‘mature’. *haha* I’m used to it already, so its okay. I didn’t catch much of his talk because of the sound system that was so bad that those on the stage could not hear or see what was happening.

After that, quickly took everything back to the dorm, showered and changed and came back down. Seriously, I thought I wouldn’t have the time to change but well, all fell in place. Then we had the formal dinner. The secretariat put up a good show during the dinner. I was expecting something more grand for the seating of the participants. The least they could do was provide tables for us right? I made a whole group of new friends today. I’m so glad.

After dinner, we had a very interesting talk by Rotarian Adrian Minjoot. It got everyone moving? *haha* Then during supper time, everyone was already taking pics and exchanging name cards with everyone. I had my fair share of photos that night with my USJ 4 family. *haha* XD We stayed out as late as we could before going back into our dorms.

That night my block fourth floor called McDs, because us secretariats didn’t get to eat much during the dinner.

DISTRICT INTERACT CONFERENCE 09 Day 3

As I said, I was down and waiting at the E block by 5.30am. And I saw a scene that was not right for underage ppl. *haha* There was this couple, INTI students should be, kissing and hugging and turning around here and there, making out. It was as though I was not there to them. (not explaining in detail here. CENSORED) *haha*

We skipped breakfast and started arranging the tables for registration later. There was this school that had already arrived. Apparently they were already at the station at 4am. Once all was done, including the goodie-bags and t-shirts were arranged properly, we opened registration at about 8am. I forgot to mention that we had the help of a bus to carry all the bags and t-shirts from the MPH to the registration hall. THANK U!

Once everything was running smoothly, me and Adeline had to go do our own jobs. Transportation. We went out to the front gate and began directing ppl to the hall, taking the bus to the station to pick up students/participants. Most of them actually came by either private busses or their own cars. So that saved us some work. Even Fern, Angeline, Joey, Ivy and Azwan came in one car. *haha* so happy when I saw them again that I crossed the road without looking and almost got hit by a bus. (Heart attack moment there, but thank you Adeline for saving me). The trip that I went on the bus to the station, I only took back 3 students from SMK Convent, Sentul. *haha* I was surprised that so little ppl were coming by the feeder buses we provided.

Because of so little people coming in, the busses took a break during lunch but well my job is never ending. Back to the registration counters to type out the nametags and extra name lists. Showing the participants to their rooms as usher. Everyone is so friendly. *haha*

Was so busy that didn’t have time to go to the cafeteria to eat lunch. So, I got my good friends to bring me food. *hehe* Thank you I-Fern, Joey, I-vy, Angeline and Azwan for bringing me and my teammates lunch. Without them, I think I wont have lunch at all.

After that, while some of the secretariats were at the registration hall, the others and the participants went for the ice-breaking session. I can’t write anything on this because I didn’t stay there to take part. I only passed by and took some pics. Actually come to think of it, I didn’t enter any of the sessions today. But I did go out to find for printer ink. Searched the entire Nilai and it doesn’t have my ink cartridge model. Ended up buying a refill pack which I was not sure whether could be used or not. The guy at the shop kept saying: “I’m sorry, we don’t offer installing services here. No trying also.” Almost got pissed but control control.

Dinner was once again brought by me GREAT FRIENDS! *Haha* I’m mentioning your names again! I-Fern, Joey, Angeline, and I-vy!

After the last session only did the secretariats come and move everything to the hall. Once that was done, I was free but only for a short while. Quickly went up to my dorm to put down my printer and laptop. Went for a quick shower and changed and went back down to meet Fern they all. They were at the study area, kinda hiding because the other participants were being chased back into their rooms. We stayed there chit-chatting for quite a while before going back. Me and Joey was like blur the whole time, not knowing what they were saying. Not because they were speaking greek, but because they were talking a different slang of hokkien. *haha* Fern and Ivy was also kinda blur.

Then I found out the secretariats had a group photo without me. *haiz* nvm, I’m already out of the circle, so its okay. *haha*
